Avari Towers is my go to place whenever I go out with my family and want to eat something yummy. This time Avari Towers wowed me with their Singaporean Food Festival. And believe me; the Singaporean rice we cook and eat in Karachi could not be more different than the original ones I ate there. The original Singaporean rice resemble to Chinese fried rice both in taste and look.
Singapore is famous for its seafood. And that is what we found at Avari. There was crab, lobster, squid, prawns and fish. It is common misconception that the Singaporean food is bland but it isn’t. Most of the authentic dishes served at avari Towers were spicy.
I loved the food. Especially the Pepper Beef with Oyster Sauce was finger licking good. It was so good, the beef perfectly cooked with black pepper and oyster sauce dominating this dish. It tasted amazing. And I absolutely loved the fried banana with caramel toffee in dessert. It tasted so good.
Check out my pictures from Avari Towers to see what other dishes were served for the Singaporean Food Fest.

My son, though only 2 year old is a foodie. There is no other way to describe him. So far, he loves all the cuisines that he has eaten in his short life. Italian, Mexican, Chinese and desi like paye and nihari. He especially likes fried chicken. So, where ever we dine, we order fried chicken so that if he doesn’t like the food he can still have his favorite.
This weekend, my husband decided to prove himself as a doting, attentive and generous husband. He took us to Dolmen Mall Clifton with orders to buy anything I like. With a huge grin, I told him that more than 60 brands are offering winter sales and discounts. And off we went.
What a fun filled day. Dream of every wife. No cooking and lots of shopping. What more could I ask for. In the middle of our shopping, my son started being cranky and that was a sure sign that he was hungry. We looked for the safest and the most economical option available in the Dolmen Mall Food Court and that brought us to Golden Chick.
They do not have an extensive menu. And that was good. Coz I always have problem in selecting what to order when there is a long list of dishes available in the menu.
We ordered fried okra. Yes, FRIED OKRA. Never thought that I’d eat out and ordered okra. But it was a good decision coz the fried okra was bomb.
We also ordered crispy golden chicken which was perfect. It was crispy from the outside, tender from the inside.
Grilled chicken was also very good. Spices tasted good and were perfect with the juiciness of the chicken pieces. The slightly charred skin tasted really good.
The meal made us languid and we headed home after eating and a good day came to an end. If you go to Dolmen Mall Clifton, do try Golden Chick especially if you have kids who love fried chicken as much as my son does.
Because of the stifling heat in Karachi, lawn brands launched their collections as early as the mid of February this year. While the whole country was enjoying rains and a cold wave, Karachi; the ever draught-ridden city witnessed weather like the summer had already begun. It’s now the end of March and all the famous and not so famous clothing brands of Pakistan have launched their lawn collections, officially welcoming the summers. That’s just where the fabric comes from, how to get lawn suits stitched? Whether to wear long shirt or a short one, what kind of trousers to wear?? Are cigarette pants still in? As much as people love to wear what suits them, they keep an eye on the latest fashion trends. Women have become even more conscious of latest trends because of all the morning shows where models, actresses and anchors wear the latest and the most chic designs.
So, here are 5 fashion trends to follow this summer:
Medium Length Shirts
While women have been wearing long shirts for a couple of years now, most of the latest lawn collections have come up with medium length shirts. As much we love our long shirts which not only make a girl look taller, they make women look thinner too; the medium length shirts are the new trend. The medium length shirts are not very short, but are just above the knee which can easily be worn by women of all ages.
Yes, dhoti shalwars are in again after a long time. Most designers have launched their clothing lines with dhoti shalwars. The dhoti shalwars look great with short shirts. Whether dhoti shalwar is worn with heels or flats, they look pretty good on everyone.
Khussay look amazing both with the eastern clothing as well as western. Wear khussa with jeans and it will give you a fab look or wear it with your dhoti shalwar. Apart from the traditional embroidered ones, there are so many new styles of khussay.
Every brand has introduced digital print pret collection. Digital prints are beautiful and full of vibrant colors. Do not forget to buy digital print kurtay for casual wear.
Beautiful, flowing and colorful long skirts are just the thing to look chic and trendy. Pair them up with high heels and dangling earrings and you are ready for any party.
